Is Jesus in the Church?

“Is Jesus in the Church?”

As you think about what the Bible says about Jesus and His relationship to the Church, can you identify where Jesus is in the Church?

Think about these passages:

Jesus is the foundation (chief cornerstone) of the church. (I Corinthians 3:11)    Foundations are under the building. Jesus is under the church supporting it.

Jesus is the head of the church. (Colossians 1:18)   The head is over the body. Jesus is head over the church ruling it.

Jesus is the captain of the church.   (Hebrews 2:10)   The captain goes before his followers. Jesus goes before His disciples.

Jesus is the shepherd of the church. (John 10:11)  A shepherd walks alongside his flock. Jesus walks alongside His sheep.

Jesus is the Savior of the Church. (Ephesians 5:23) A savior is for his people. Jesus died for His church and is its Savior.

Jesus is the heart of the church. (Hebrews 2:17-18)  The heart is inside the body and sustains it. Jesus is inside the church and feeds it.

Where is Jesus in the church? As we see from the Scriptures above that Jesus is all about the church, and the church is all about Jesus. As a member of His church, Jesus is all about us, and we should be all about Him.  Jesus gave His precious blood for His Church and for His people. We should never lose sight of that. Are you all about Jesus and His Church?
