Our God is Alive! Is Yours?

“OUR GOD IS ALIVE!  IS YOURS?”

Gods are supposed to have emotions and be alive. Right? We read and study about Greek and Roman gods and goddesses of love, joy, pity, anger, violence, and so on. All of us understand that those gods are fake. They are man-made gods. They are made from stone and wood. They have NO emotions because they are only a piece of stone or wood and are not alive. These gods are all fake. Yet why do some people still worship them?

Many will say,” I don’t worship those gods made from stone and wood.” Others will say, “I don’t care about Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Diana, Cupid, or Zeus,” but do you worship the riches and pleasures of this world? Do you put riches and pleasures before serving the God who is alive? Jesus says in Luke 8:14, “the seed that fell among the thorns was choked out by the cares, riches, and pleasures of this life.”  If we are not careful, cares, riches, and pleasures of this life are the gods that we serve. We devote a lot of our time, money, and energy to them, as if we worship them. Just like the gods of stone and wood, riches and pleasures do not care about us.

There is ONE GOD. Ephesians 4:6 states, “there is one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”  There is NO OTHER GOD. I Corinthians 8:4 tells us, “Therefore, concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other GOD, but one.”   The ONE TRUE GOD is not fake. He is not man-made. He is REAL. Acts 17:24 reminds us, “God, who made the world, and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.”

Our God is alive, and He cares for His creation. Peter reminds us in I Peter 5:7, cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”  Is the God that you worship alive and well or do you worship the gods of this world? Our God died for us and wants us to be with Him in Heaven.
