Our Attitude Toward the Scriptures

“OUR ATTITUDE TOWARD THE SCRIPTURES”

The comments our visitors make about our services are very important. One visitor remarked, “I have been to many churches, and they talk about the Scriptures, but at this church you let the Scriptures talk to you. Our goal here at Plainfield is to simply open the Scriptures and let the amazing message of this book guide us in every aspect of our lives. There is a reason why our classes and sermons are different. We strive to have the same attitude Jesus had toward the Scriptures. We must have the same respect that our Lord and Savior had for the Word.

We believe the Scriptures because Jesus believed them. He believed and taught from the Genesis account of Creation. He believed in the Divine origin of marriage. He taught about Noah and the great flood. His teachings included the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, as well as God speaking to Moses at the burning bush. He taught Jonah in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights. Jesus believed the Scriptures. Do we believe what the Scriptures say?

Jesus believed every single letter and word in the Scriptures. Do we really believe in every single letter and word of the Scriptures? Many believe that some Scripture has been lost since the time of Christ. Jesus believed in the eternal nature of the Scriptures, and so should we.

Jesus believed that the Scriptures are the basis on which we should judge our lives. How do you decide how to live? What guide do you use about conducting your life? God has revealed Himself through the Scriptures and has given us His eternal word to be our guide.

We hope that our classes and services let you know that we have a deep respect for the Scriptures. It is our effort to seriously study the Scriptures that sets us apart from other churches and their teachings. Help us to have the same attitude and respect for the Scriptures that Jesus had for them. There is no other way to treat them except with the reverence they deserve. What is your attitude toward the Scriptures?
